#SongsFromTheRoad featuring Alex Lamgaday – ‘Chaubandi Cholo’

I meet amazing people on my travels, and #SongsFromTheRoad is a series that celebrates the talent of everyday people.

I recently spent some time in Dharamshala where I met Alex. Alex is a 20-year-old talented musician from Mirik, Darjeeling. He left his home during the recent Darjeeling unrest and travelled to Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh to help out at his cousin’s restaurant Pacha Mamma Cafe in Bhagsu Nag.

I caught him singing ‘Chaubandi Cholo,’ a Nepali folk song, and had to capture the moment!

Chaubandi Cholo is a traditional woman’s blouse worn by Nepali women. The song was originally performed by Mukti n’ Revival, one of the oldest Blues and Rock n Roll bands from Nepal.

I hope you enjoy the performance!
